Summary: She made him think about staying.

Notes/Warnings: Title from Billy Joel's song of the same name, which seems fitting for the theme of this fic. Looking at the prompts from N100, "Twist" caught my eye for a Nikki drabble. Nikki lays tucked into his arms, sound asleep – one leg lazily draped over his, finger twitching against his chest in dream. He toys with her hair, watching as her curls wind around his fingers.
He’s only in town tonight, so they make the most if it. Dinner and darts at her favorite dive, because she likes the smell of whiskey on him. A quick walk from there to her apartment, because it’s good to get air before they don’t come up for any. Once inside, it’s all hunger and need, because she missed him.
Hell, he missed her too. His constant companion on the road was dreams of these curls, the lazy smile she gets when she’s warm and sated under him, the way she laughs when he’s particularly devious.
She makes him think about staying. Not every day. That would cramp her style. Plus there’s something to be said for the way she wraps herself around him when he hasn’t been there in a while.
He’s been thinking about a home base in L.A. – his hub between cases. Some place to call home, to put down roots that would twist like her dark hair in his hands. Maybe he’ll bring it up the over breakfast… assuming he’s not the only thing on the menu.
